St. Mary’s Episcopal Church works actively to serve the community and to bring people from all areas of the Kansas City region downtown. In partnering with Summerfest, St. Mary’s has brought people interested in chamber music performance to its historic building, in a part of the city that is not regularly frequented by cultural visitors. By supporting and promoting each other, Summerfest and St. Mary’s draw positive attention to downtown and make the neighborhood a more pleasant place to be. Click here for venue policies.

Summerfest has also begun a collaboration with the Conservatory of Music at UMKC. In addition to hosting Summerfest’s Saturday concerts, the Conservatory is home to a summer camp for young music students. Summerfest musicians offer workshops at the camp, “campers” perform in the lobby prior to Summerfest concerts, and each are able to attend the other’s performances. Prospective students get a taste of one of the fine cultural offerings available right in UMKC’s neighborhood. That neighborhood also includes numerous restaurants, and many concertgoers choose to “make a night of it” with a post-concert meal in Brookside or on the Plaza. Click here for venue policies.
