2006 Program - If Music be the Food of Love

Please join us on any of the following weekends. All Saturday performances begin at 7 p.m. at White Recital Hall, 4949 Cherry, Kansas City, MO, and all Sunday performances begin at 5 p.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church., 1307 Holmes, Kansas City, MO.

PROGRAM 1: July 8-9, 2006

  • Tafelmusik for oboe, trumpet, two violins, viola, and continuo by G. P. Telemann
  • Cookbook for clarinet and piano by Kenji Bunch
  • La Bonne Cuisine for soprano and piano by Leonard Bernstein
  • If Music Be the Food of Love for soprano, violin, and continuo by Henry Purcell
  • Trio Sonata for flute, violin, and continuo by Solomon Eccles
  • La Revue de Cuisine for clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, violin, cello, and piano by Bohuslav Martinu

PROGRAM 2: July 15-16, 2006

  • Trio Sonata in D minor for oboe, violin, and continuo by G. F. Handel
  • Old Photographs for violin, cello, and piano by Christos Hatzis
  • Trio Pathetique in D minor for clarinet, bassoon, and piano by Mikhail Glinka
  • Nonet for flute, oboe, clarinet, harp, string quartet, and double bass by Arnold Bax


PROGRAM 3: July 22-23, 2006

  • Fantasy Quartet for oboe, violin, viola, and cello by E. J. Morean
  • Sonata for flute, viola and harp by Claude Debussy
  • Quintet for clarinet and string quartet, world premiere by Mary Alice Rich
  • Sextuor for piano and woodwind quintet by Francis Poulenc

PROGRAM 4: July 29-30, 2006

  • Concert instrumental sous le titre d’Apothéose á la mémoire de Lully
    for flute, oboe, two violins, viola, and continuo by François Couperin
  • Sonatine for oboe, clarinet, and bassoon by Sándor Veress
  • Trio in B flat major, Opus 21 for violin, cello, and piano by Antonin Dvorák
